Lima, Mar. 04 (ANDINA).
Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) expects to
achieve significant progress in the chapters of Customs, Intellectual
Property Rights and Geographical Indicators by the end of the Eleventh
Round of Negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP),
reported Sudnay Deputy Foreign Trade, Carlos Posada.
The Eleventh Round of Negotiations began on March 9 and will end on Friday in the city of Melbourne (Australia).
"I hope the Customs chapter will be closed on issues referred to
trade facilitation, and that our clearance procedures are the optimal
without any request to change legislation," he told Andina news agency.
Posada said there are many chances that the customs procedures are accepted in the negotiations.
This round of negotiations are expected to register progress in intellectual property and, specifically, in copyright.
"The tricky part of the copyright chapter is referred to health and I
hope we can continue dialogue in the coming months," he said.
The chapter referred to Geographical Indications is referred to
products with designation of origin that currently enter these markets,
such as pisco, Chulucanas pottery of Ica bean.
